Born in Moscow in 1982 baritone Eugene Liberman began studying music at the early age of 7, and graduated from the Sveshnikov Choral School in choral conducting in 2000. The same year he entered Academy of Choral Art. He studied as a conductor under professor Boris Lyashko and as the opera singer under professor Paolo Kudriavchenko. With the Opera Studio of the academy, he undertook such parts as Belcore in Donizetti’s L'Elisir d'Amore and Masetto in Mozart’s Don Giovanni.
Granted by a sponsorship of the Italian government, he continued his studies in Italy (2007 to 2008) at the Accademia d’Arte Lirica di Osimo in the classes of Sergio Segalini, William Matteuzzi, Antonio Juvarra, Raina Kabaivanska.
He started his career at Moscow in 2006, in the Great Hall of the Moscow State Conservatoire, as Jesus in Bach’s Johannes Passion, under the baton of Alexei Pusakov. In October 2007, he performed the baritone part in Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana at the Tchaikovsky Moscow Concert Hall under the baton of Vladimir Ponkin. In December 2007, he reprised the baritone part of Carmina Burana in Italy, first at the Teatro dell‘Aquila Fermo, under the baton of Angelo Bolciaghi and, in July 2008, at the Music Halls of Camerano, Montefano and San-Elpidio a Mare under the baton of Angelo Biancamano.
He has appeared regularly as soloist in concerts with the Talents of the World foundation directed by David Gvinianidze.
Eugene Liberman has taken part in many vocal competitions, garnering numerous prizes and awards: he was finalist at the Vincenzo Bellini International Singing Competition, Caltanissetta (2006), at the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition in Vienna (2008) as well as at the Riccardo Zandonai International Singing Competition, Riva del Garda, and 2nd Prize at the Citta di Bologna International Singing Contest for which he also was awarded a Special Premium.
Eugene will make his debut as Nikita in The Portrait by Myeceslaw Weinberg, in April 2011, at the Opéra National de Lorraine - Nancy.
